Monitoring Extractive Activity-Induced Surface Subsidence in Highland and Alpine Opencast Coal Mining Areas with Multi-Source Data

چکیده
Mining developments in alpine coal mining areas result slow or rapid ground subsidence, which can lead to melting and collapse of permafrost. This paper integrated unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) images satellite-based SAR interferometry monitor intensive surface subsidence during reclamation. Digital Surface Model (DSM) acquired from UAV was first used evaluate the changes reclamation scheme on microtopography carried out by slope Elevation (DEM) difference (DoD). The monitoring results showed that had been reduced over 30 degrees under 15 after terrain reshaped. DoD map revealed distribution main extraction landfill areas. To further local adjustment, Permanent Scatterer Interferometry (PS-InSAR) method reveal characteristics mine site before maximum cumulative ranged −772.3 1183 mm based 21 Sentinel-1A three years. Within a year reshaping, uplift still occurred at hills pit side slopes, following nearly equal rate. experimental reshaping vegetation recovery limited impact reduction short period. Therefore, this basis, combination PS-InSAR methods be continue time series mines.

Monitoring underground coal mining - induced subsidence
Monitoring of mine subsidence by means of classical methods such as optical levelling or Global Positioning System (GPS) surveys can reveal deformations with sub-millimetre to subcentimetre precision for localised areas. However, to provide data on a reasonably dense two-dimensional (2D) benchmark grid are costly and time-consuming for all but the smallest areas. Moreover, a regular re-survey o...
متن کاملDifferential Radar Interferometry and Its Application in Monitoring Underground Coal Mining-induced Subsidence
Ground subsidence due to underground coal mining threatens the safety of surface infrastructure such as buildings, roads, bridges, powerlines and telecommunication cables, and can cause environmental problems such as water pollution, cessation of stream flow, and so on. Monitoring the spatial distribution of surface deformation may be helpful for land-use planning, land reclamation, safety and ...
متن کاملMonitoring a Large and Complex Land Subsidence in Coal Mining Areas with a Small-baseline Interferogram Stacking Technique
China is the world’s largest coal-producing country and mining-related land subsidence happens almost in every coal mining area. In north-west China, land subsidence in coal mining areas is mainly caused by underground mining activities and uncontrolled burnings of subsurface coal seam. As Hoffmann (2004) reported, burning coal-seams can result in extensive subsidence of several meters and typi...

OBJECTIVES To answer the question whether living near opencast coal mining sites affects acute and chronic respiratory health. METHODS All 4860 children aged 1-11 from five socioeconomically matched pairs of communities close to active opencast sites and control sites away from them were selected. Exposure was assessed by concentrations of particulate matter with aerodynamic diameter < 10 mic...
متن کاملSimulating the hydrologic cycle in coal mining subsidence areas with a distributed hydrologic model
Large-scale ground subsidence caused by coal mining and subsequent water-filling leads to serious environmental problems and economic losses, especially in plains with a high phreatic water level. Clarifying the hydrologic cycle in subsidence areas has important practical value for environmental remediation, and provides a scientific basis for water resource development and utilisation of the s...
